ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?  

The role sits within the Content team, as part of the wider Global Consumer Experience (GCE) team.

The job holder will manage the relationship between CX and Category teams and the in-house agency, to ensure content is delivered efficiently and effectively. This role will lead all aspects of content activation, working closely with CX Activation and Category teams to develop content that drives audience growth and engagement. The role will assure that processes and ways of working between the agency and CX teams are well defined and executed and a governance model is in place to make decisions. Also, it will make sure that content efficiency is driven across teams and critical performance metrics are met.

The role will assure that BAT teams are producing best in class content that improves consumer experiences and resonates with our audiences. Working hand in hand with the global procurement team, it will also seek to define the terms of our global contract, ensuring we maximise value. It will have direct ownership of the global studio, and manage remotely the DRBU Studios (i.e. UK, Japan) as well as the agency's on-demand Service.

What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?

It will support the delivery of in-house agency content across CX Activation teams (e.g. PoCs) and ensure that this is delivered effectively and efficiently. Also, it will ensure that sufficient ROI on content is driven and that teams are consistently embracing content best practices.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Managing the end-to-end relationship with the in-house agency, ensuring scope is clear, the targets are met and provide value to BAT
  • Gathering content requirements from CX activation, Partnerships and Category teams and ensure this is reflected in a clear scope of work
  • Optimising the agency process to best suit the organisation, and ensure the right clauses are negotiated through the contract, drive efficiency, governance and return on investment
  • Ensuring that processes between CX, Category teams and agency are well defined, continually identifying improvements to workflow (including technological requirements such as Adobe Workfront) and processes to ensure effective and agile delivery as well as compliance
  • Ensuing delivering against defined KPIs, metrics, deliverables and costs. Ensuring that outputs are data driven and optimised based on insights and previous iterations/learning
  • Work with the Category teams to ensure that in-house agency is delivering as per their needs and requests
  • Develop and maintain high levels of trust, communication, collaboration, productivity and engagement, forging a good working relationship
  • Be the gatekeeper of content quality assuring that there are delivered high quality outputs, in line with best-in-class content practices and clearly answering the brief given
  • Conduct regular reviews to assess performance formally and manage resource and capabilities assessment and roadmap, ensuring BAT & the in-house agency are developing best in class content capabilities

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Graduate Degree
  • Deep experience in project management, in particular in the digital marketing field
  • Extensive experience managing agencies or working in creative agency network
  • Experience negotiating agency contracts and defining scopes of work
  • Strong understanding of what good content looks like
  • Experience defining processes and ways of working
  • Proven commercial acumen and ability to drive value and return on investment from content
  • Deep industry expertise in Consumer goods, preferably in combustibles/NC
  • Excellent understanding of digital marketing channels and the content requirements across these – e.g. Paid Media, Social Media, CRM
  • Experience developing positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail and exemplary organizational skills, adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with content technology/platforms (e.g. Adobe Workfront)
