JOB TITLE: Marketing Skills Development Executive

ROLE SUMMARY

As the Deputy Manager of Marketing Skills Development, your primary objective is to elevate the capabilities and skills of our talent in alignment with BAT's Strategic Imperative of 'develop talent as a competitive advantage.' This pivotal role encompasses identifying learning needs, facilitating knowledge acquisition, and cultivating a robust learning culture within the marketing function. You play a crucial role in assessing and bridging competency gaps, ensuring positive feedback on development programs, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

The scope of the role spans from meeting individual learning needs to crafting and implementing a Learning & Development strategy that bolsters business success. Key responsibilities include assessing marketing function competence, coordinating end-to-end content development, and maintaining a comprehensive training calendar. You will also evaluate the impact of deployed trainings, spearhead BAT initiatives, and champion digital competency acquisition across the organization.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure the quality delivery of Service Level Agreements and KPIs to leadership.
  • Digitize training content, integrate LMS, and gamify learning models while managing automated reporting and analytics.
  • Create engaging learning initiatives to foster the cultural shift from face-to-face to virtual and digitized training, ensuring a long-term impact.
  • Manage the smooth implementation of all Learning and Development Initiatives, including marketing app utilization and BAT Ethos inculcation.
  • Champion digital competency acquisition, identifying opportunities for relevant content adoption in modern and future-fit apps.
  • Develop e-learning content using various tools, including LMS, Grid, SuccessFactors, Animation tools, and Video generating tools such as EdApp, Anireel.
  • Regularly assess the quality of the talent pool through competency assessment tools, Talent Review meetings, and line manager engagement, ensuring quality development plans are executed.
  • Collaborate to drive career/learning paths, recruitment/onboarding processes, and change management.
  • Stay abreast of the fast-paced marketing landscape, sharing local best practices.
  • Ensure learning & development budget and resources are used effectively and efficiently.
  • Generate excitement and commitment to capability building across line managers, business units, and leadership teams.
  • Ensure collective capability levels remain high in the organization, facilitating on-time integration for new joiners and supporting high performance.
  • Drive the development of facilitation and coaching skills in line managers to embed the 70-20-10 and self-directed learning model.
  • Regularly diagnose individual and team gaps across functions, agency of record, and distribution partners to deploy fit-for-purpose learning and development solutions.
  • Conduct timely evaluations of the effectiveness and efficiency of all development programs.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE

Experience Required

3 to 5 years’ experience within the Marketing function (preference for both Trade and Brand experience). Demonstrated the capacity and interest to integrate the need for business results with a people-oriented approach.

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

  • Business and Marketing expertise (Trade and/or Brand experience).
  • Learning & Development expertise, learning process design, and content expertise in Marketing Skills library.
  • Advisory, influencing, coaching, and facilitation skills.
  • Competency assessment (individual & organizational).
  • Resource management and change management.
  • Strong negotiation, written, and verbal skills.
  • Strategic, analytical, and judgment skills.
  • Maturity to provide credibility at senior levels.
  • Capacity to drive high performance and sustainable business results.
  • Good computer literacy and competent spoken and written English.
