British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a PRODUCT COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST II – MODERN ORAL in Southampton

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?  

Accurate, on time in full legal regulatory assessment and reporting of BAT consumables by application of legal rules through defined Product Regulatory Compliance (PRC) processes across every stage of the product lifecycle to ensure legal compliance to specific market regulatory requirements. 

Support the growth of the product category and the growth of the regulatory complexity by ensuring close partnership with Compliance Insights, CORA and stakeholders to implement and embed legal requirements and new markets into efficient processes and ways of working. 

Ability to manage stakeholders to ensure clear project prioritisation aligned to workload capacity. 

Identify and drive efficient system user requirements to support efficient processes.

What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?

Product Regulatory Compliance is responsible for the legal regulatory assessment and reporting of Modern Oral products to ensure the business is legally compliant and can launch and remain in market. The role will require rapidly gained expertise in the product and the legal compliance requirements for this product category and will require pro-active stakeholder engagement to ensure that projects and stakeholders are clear on the compliance requirements to be planned into projects. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing accurate and on time delivery of legal compliance outcomes and/or reporting requirements according to project priority or end market legal requirements from product regulation and chemical regulation perspective. 
  • Support in Safety Data Sheet creation and amendments for products to fulfil chemical regulatory obligations.
  • Support LM in providing user requirements and system development testing to enable efficient assessment and reporting of products through our systems. 
  • Support the training of legal assessment and reporting as required.  
  • Stakeholder management from Develop to Deploy to ensure clear project prioritisation. 
  • Accurate planning and capacity management through Planning processes. 
  • Identify and drive innovative ways of working to deliver process efficiencies.  
  • Providing technical support to the Product Compliance team, and all stakeholders on all product assessment and reporting related matters.  
  • Ensures the confidentiality of all supplier information is maintained to ensure their trust, support and co-operation. 
  • Knowledge in project management and confidence to challenge own and stakeholder ways of working to meet business requirements. 
  • Ability to engage with external suppliers and provide support to respond to regulatory authority queries responsibly with knowledge and confidence.  

Can this be your future role?

  • Do you have experience in legal compliance assessments or legal reporting of other product categories? 
  • Are you familiar with the PLM process from Discover to Deploy, the Product Compliance protocols and the required stakeholder teams to engage with? 

What are we looking for?

Experience Required

  • A degree in a relevant science or legal discipline and/or demonstrable experience and positive track record. 
  • Good IT skills including MS office and SAP.
  • Good verbal and writing capabilities in English. Experience in technical report writing desirable. 
  • Stakeholder engagement to drive clear processes or clear priorities. 
  • Self-starter with ability to work unsupervised and under pressure whilst maintaining flexibility. 
  • Good attention to detail. 

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to acquire compliance data, drive and inform the decision-making process to enable compliance.
  • Able to deal proactively and confidently when faced with a high level of ambiguity and tight time constraints. 
  • Excellent technical written and verbal reasoning skills. 
  • Strong team player who collaborates with peers to support critical projects and deliverables. 
  • Positive "can-do" attitude and effective problem solver. 
  • Prior experience in area of regulatory affairs, compliance or product stewardship
  • Possess critical thinking skills and ability to follow through processes.
  • Ability to assimilate and understand basic technical information from chemical and product regulation.

BENEFICIAL

  • PLM process knowledge and/or project management experience 
  • Previous experience of legal assessments for other product categories and/or previous experience in compiling legal reports or product notifications for external authorities 
  • Working knowledge of MO products and the relevant product regulatory compliance requirements
