British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Blender in Southampton
To lead a range of technical Blend developments for Heated Product requirements by utilising the available Leaf portfolio and new to World substrates. Development Blender, for specific Portfolio Programmes assigned ensuring a comprehensive Global approach for a streamlined portfolio of blends. Ensures optimum processability and compliance to toxicant limits of the Substrates and Blends in development.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Technical Lead Blender within for New Categories requirements as per assigned projects
- Technical Lead Blender in Blend Development utilising new to world Leaf/Blend innovations demonstrating ideal application of assigned innovative technical enablers to different Blend styles/types to meet consumer needs.
- Drives above region monitoring & management of Blend Portfolio, ensuring consumer focus, quality, global alignments, optimised cost, and complexity through adherence to, Brand and Product Standards & guidelines (e.g. Destination portfolio, Leaf footprint, sustainability etc.)
- Provides role modelling as a subject matter authority in a technical space with sound commercial/consumer awareness.
- Key contribution to Cycle Plan & Productivity process in ideation sessions, project status updates, readiness, and ability to deliver to plan – for enablers /developments assigned.
- Reviews insights with Insights & Foresight, interprets consumer research results holistically, and proposes actions and direction on required Blend direction in consultation with key partners.
- Technical Lead Blender in the development of new to world leaf/blend innovations (for assigned innovations) delivering OTIF Specification readiness.
- Monitors Brand/ Blend performance & Blend alignment globally and promotes/ encourages transfer of successes across regions.
What are we looking for?
- Relevant experience within Blending, Product and Leaf
- Strong leadership skills – Experience coordinating large projects & clear communication when engaging with Senior Partners
- Solid knowledge and experience with tobacco types and styles, key sources, and footprint strategy
- Overall Product Experience in understanding markets/consumers and translating to technical solutions.
- Relevant experience in Creative Blend development for multiple Blend styles and markets
- Strong technical knowledge of Leaf and Blending
- Strong Leadership skills (engagement, influencing, aim for results and collaborative work
Beneficial
- Understanding of Tob Reg toxicants in tobacco or generated in tobacco products.
Qualifying questions for applicants

- Bachelor or Engineering in Chemistry, Food Technology, Agronomy
